For split keyboards, a USB dongle helps maximize battery life. Read about how it works.
- A dongle is included with every keyboard that is purchased with the solar charging option. If you purchase a solar keyboard, you do not need to purchase one of these dongles separately.
- We recommend adding a dongle for keyboards purchased without the solar charging option.
Functionally, all three dongle variants serve the same purpose. The main difference between them is the connector (USB A vs USB C) and aesthetics (the Raytac dongle comes with an enclosure).
These dongles are specifically sold for use with SliceMK split keyboards.
Due to the ongoing chip shortage, the SliceMK USB C Dongle can only be purchased with a keyboard and is limited to one per keyboard.
Our keyboards such as the ErgoDox Wireless are specifically designed to use these dongles. While there are other dongles that also work from a technical point of view, they are not officially supported. If you decide to use an unsupported dongle, getting the firmware to work is entirely your responsibility. Additionally, other vendors that sell these dongles may have it preloaded with an incompatible bootloader.
